Defending champion Ashleigh Buhai has produced a six-shot swing to grab a four-stroke lead during the third round in the Women's Australian Open in Sydney. After starting the day two behind former world No.1 Jiyai Shin, Buhai birdied her first four holes at The Australian Golf Club and reached the 12th at 11 under par for the tournament. The South African surged as Shin threw in a double-bogey seven at the fifth to offset two front-nine birdies and bogeyed the 10 and 11th be at seven under. Australian LPGA Tour stars Steph Kyriacou and world No.5 Minjee Lee were among the big movers on Saturday, both rebounding from poor second rounds to climb back in contention. Kyriacou, who went to school right next door in Kensington and often played The Australian before and after her studies, picked up four shots through 14 holes to jump up to outright third at five under - still six strokes adrift of Buhai. Still chasing an elusive first Australian Open triumph 13 years after leading through three rounds as a 14-year-old, Lee birdied four of her first six holes to charge to fourth at four under. Teenage amateur Ann Jang earlier on Saturday recorded a rare albatross in a spectacular start to her third round. Jang holed three-wood second shot at the par-5 first hole to leap from three over to even par for the championship in one fell swoop. A member of the nearby NSW club in La Perouse, 16-year-old Jang is the latest amateur to announce their arrival on the big stage this week, rocketing up to a share of 11th on the leaderboard midway through her third round. Jang eventually signed for a 73 to be tied for 25th at four over. Legendary four-time champion Karrie Webb is the only Australian to win the women's Open in the past quarter of a century.
