A BARNSTORMING opening term from Turvey Park has helped the Bulldogs to a six-goal victory over arch-enemy Wagga Tigers in yesterday's elimination final at Narrandera Sportsground.Turvey Park kicked the opening eight goals of the game to seal the contest early and set up a first semi-final clash with Coolamon on Saturday. The Bulldogs were all over Tigers early, especially through the midfield, and with plenty of pace and a higher skill level, took the honours comfortably 11.10 (76) to 5.10 (40).Turvey Park's early domination took the sting out of the contest after half-time as both teams went through the motions with the game all but decided.Tigers rallied with the final four goals of the game to add some respectability to the score.Turvey Park teenager Harry Cunningham was awesome and put on a clinic for the Bulldogs with his rebound defence continually tearing Tigers apart on his way to best-on-ground honours. It was a big effort from the youngster, who had not trained in three weeks or played in a fortnight as he battled to overcome a groin injury.Turvey Park captain-coach Brad Burkinshaw was pleased to see the Bulldogs start so well."It's good, this is what we've been working on all year, to start strongly, and we did it really well today," Burkinshaw said. "We got ourselves up for the first 15 and when you start well, they've got to run you down. It's a lot easier being in front than having to come from behind."Aside from Cunning-ham, Bulldogs centre half-back Chris Cerato was another standout for Turvey Park with a dominant display in defence.Such was Turvey Park's start, they led 51 to 1 midway through the second term. Dusty Brown booted four of Turvey Park's opening nine majors, while James Elliott was a constant threat. The Bulldogs now renew their rivalry with Coolamon."We'll go into that confident but I'm sure they'll go in confident as well," Burkinshaw said.On a dirty day for Tigers, Pat Delaney and Jacob Osbeiston tried hard.
