Adriaenssens entered all the events available to him, winning the 100m freestyle, the 50m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and individual medley.Belcourt did the same, winning all her events except for the 50m breaststroke, in which she came second.Belcourt originally started swimming because it looked fun and, five years down the track she still feels the same.“I really enjoy everything about it,” she said. “Today is my favourite school day of the year.”Along with the strong performances of Adriaenssens and Belcourt seven records were broken.Despite the strong results, Lake Albert Public School sports coordinator Barry McColl believes the all-round swimming standard at the school is in decline.“The swimming strength at the school is in decline, but I don’t think it is our school solely, but a number of schools,” he said.“Today we offered points for participation, so we are trying to encourage everyone to take part and have a go, which is what life is about.”Blamey house was the champion, defeating the other houses.
