After ending their drought in the competition with a two-point win over Kildare Catholic College in last year’s thrilling grand final, Wagga High has seen a big turnover of players this time around.
Despite the changes captain Ben Weeden is still confident of a big showing this year.
“There is only two or three from last year's team this year and we’ve just had a couple of boys leave recently with apprenticeships,” Weeden said. "Hopefully everything goes to plan.
"It was good to get the win last year and the boys are still pretty confident we can do it again.”
Kildare also has a very different team to the one who narrowly went down in the final.
After just falling short of making it three wins on the trot, captain Matt Knagge wants to reclaim the mantle as Wagga’s premier schoolboys team.
“We're pretty young this year but we are hoping to go one step further and win it this year,” Knagge said.
“We were pretty unlucky (last year), but we will be right this year.”
This year's competition kicks off at 4.30pm when Mount Austin High tackles Kooringal High before Wagga High gets their title defence under way against Mater Dei Catholic College.
Despite missing out on last year’s finals, Mount Austin are heading into this year's competition full of confidence.
"The team is going good and I think we will shook a couple of teams,” captain Latrell Siegwalt said.
“Our team was young last year, we only had one Year 12 last year but all us Year 11s have pushed up to Year 12 and it is our year.”
