After a year of growing his hair, on Friday James shaved his head to the cheers of his classmates, teachers and family.
“I did it first because it was an excuse to grow my hair long,” James said.
“Then I got pretty passionate about the fundraising.”
When James first registered with the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, he set a target of $700. On Friday, before he finally shaved, the funds raised were already well over $1000.
James’ mum Katie Collins said she was so proud of what he was doing.
“It’s been a journey for him because during the process of growing his hair there was tension with some of the kids but we’re proud of him because he stuck to his guns,” she said.
