The defending champions were unbeaten until December, but have lost their last four games.

Coming off a narrow loss to The Casuals, co-coach Brocke Argus is hoping they can turn things around against Quolls in the preliminary final on Tuesday.

“We have no choice really,” Argus said.

He believes a lack of numbers has been the cause of their slump.

“We’ve only had five or six blokes coming into this half of the year, but it is no excuse,” Argus said.

“We still have the players to do it.

“We just haven’t gelled like we were at the end of last year that is for sure.”

One thing not in their favour is the absence of Campbell Lovell due to work commitments.

“It is a massive loss,” Argus said.

“We still have the players there to do it but will definitely have to string it all together to get it right.”

Argus to looking to nullify the influence Jordan Little, Cade Price and Edan Price can have on the game.

In the women’s competition, minor premiers Don Tuckwell Audio are also looking to progress through to the grand final.

They were on the end of a 8-3 thumping by AKW Jets a fortnight ago.

However coach Jess Absolum doesn’t believe the scoreline was a true testament of the game.

“It was a bit of a close game in the first final which didn’t really go to plan even though the scoreline seems like we got smashed,” Absolum said.

“It was a lot closer than that and we will be better for it and we were missing some girls.”

Absolum hopes having some familiar faces will boost Tuckies when they take on Young Guns and expects to go in at full strength.

The two teams have very contrasting styles and with plenty of the line Absolum hopes their experience can earn them a rematch with the Jets.

“If we play our natural game we should come out on top,” she said.

“We’ve probably beaten them on most occasions but they are a really young side that have played together for a very long time.

“They have some good structures and policies while we are probably the opposite to them.

“We played very structured and that can rattle them sometimes.

“We mess up their structures and that is going to be one of our go-tos.”
