Nancy Tisdell, 42, spent five years with Michael Hill honing her talent as a jeweller before deciding to take a punt with a radical product.
“I’ve been creative all my life but I really wanted to try working with something new,” she said.
“Concrete was something I thought was really in at the moment so I took a chance and went with it.”
It’s not all been smooth sailing – Nancy spent six months in 2016 just learning how to shape and manipulate the material before combining it with her designs.
“There’s a strength and knack to working with concrete, all the pouring, sanding and sealing, you know,” she said.
“It’s very difficult to work with.”
Fast forward to 2018 and the hard work is paying off.
“It’s going great now … I’ve even got a way to keep the concrete nice and light so it doesn’t weigh down,” she said.
“But I won’t be sharing that – some things you’ve got to keep secret!”
