Showers and possible thunderstorms are being predicted for Saturday, with the Bureau of Meteorology saying Wagga has a 90 per cent chance of recording between four and 10 millimetres of rain.
The bureau’s Nigel Smedley said Wagga has received just 1.4mm of rain so fair this month.
But despite the dry February, the summer of 2017-18 has actually been wetter than average.
So far this summer, Wagga has had 153.8mm of rain, above the average of 127mm.
Mr Smedley said a wet December helped bump the summer’s rainfall figures above the average mark.
A total of 101.6mm of rain tumbled down on the city in December, well above the average of 45mm.
January was also above the norm, but by the slimmest margins.
Wagga had 50.8mm, ever-so-slightly above the long-term average of 50mm.
February’s average is 41.7mm, so the city is going to need a lot more than the predicted four to 10mm to do better than that.
Mr Smedley said the rain was the result of a cold front, which will also affect temperatures.
Saturday’s predicted top is 33 degrees, but Sunday’s is a much milder 25 degrees.
Monday is heading for a slightly warmer top of 28 degrees, with Tuesday likely to reach 32 degrees.
Wednesday could see the mercury well and truly rising, with a likely maximum of 36 degrees.
