Joanne Darby, who played Madame Morrible in Wicked at the Civic Theatre in November last year, said her recent win was a real honour.
“It was all very exciting – a lot of people go to the awards and there were a lot of nominations from Wagga, too,” Ms Darby said.
“It's nice to be recognised by your peers – it was a difficult role to do, and there were a lot of other great nominations in the same category.
“Next week, it'll all be forgotten about and you just carry on doing what you love – it’s all about the acting and making people laugh and enjoy the performance.”
This was not Ms Darby’s first big win – she also won the CAT award in 2016 for her performance as the title character in Shirley Valentine.
If you missed out on seeing Ms Darby in Wicked last year, she will return to The Basement Theatre in April when she takes the stage once more in Noel Coward’s Design for Living.
