Earlier this month, the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) announced that the name was going from Wagga Rural Referral Hospital back to the “base” moniker it had carried prior to the opening of the new main hospital building.
“Naming and other signage will be replaced at the hospital when suitable opportunities arise over time,” a hospital spokeswoman said.
“A total cost for the external signage is being finalised.”
A survey conducted by the MLHD at the end of 2017 notched up 6570 votes, with Wagga Base Hospital receiving 61 per cent of votes.
“The results clearly show the majority of the people who voted preferred a return to the name Wagga Base Hospital,” chief executive Jill Ludford said.
