Gungahlin Jets assistant coach Brandon McRedmond, Corowa-Rutherglen speedster Nick Cooke and Geelong student Nick Thomas have all signed with the Lions.
GGGM were hit hard by player departures early in the off-season but have fought back with the appointment of Christin Macri as coach and five player signings.
The three new signings come on top of the earlier recruitment of former Ovens and Murray League footballer Aaron Proctor and key defender James Wilson.
GGGM recruiter Andrew Corbett said all three players are welcome additions to the club.
“Brandon is a quality defender-midfielder, who hails from Talbot in the Maryborough Castlemaine and District Football League,” Corbett said.
“We look forward to Brandon’s strong on-field leadership with our young team having previously worked with AFL Victoria on Indigenous programs.
“We are excited to have Nick (Cooke) back at Ganmain having previously been offered a rookie place with the Canberra Demons.
“We are pleased to welcome Nick (Thomas) to GGGMFC. He is a midfielder who comes from a triathlon background and his high aerobic capacity sees him currently smashing the beep test at pre-season training runs.”
McRedmond finished runner up in Gungahlin’s best and fairest last year and hails from country Victoria, where he represented Maryborough Castlemaine League.
Cooke, a Ganmain junior, has been plagued by injury in recent seasons but won a best and fairest at Gungahlin in 2015.
Thomas arrives in Ganmain on a practical placement with local farmer Ben Cruikshank and played with Winchelsea in the Geelong and District League.
The Lions also expect to see more of speedy wingman Jesse Lander this year, who only played a handful of reserve grade games late in the season in 2017.
