It comes as students, old and new, prepare for university life, with O Week festivities bringing colour, entertainment and fun to the Estella campus.
More than 800 new students have made their way to study at Charles Sturt Univeristy from across Australia and the world.
But for some, the Riverina will always be home.
Grace Rosser, Nikita Macintyre and Lauren Bruce said they had made the decision to stay in the region for a number of reasons, including family, affordability and familiarity.
But they said life would be different and they were were looking forward to the next phase of their lives.
The trio said they were keen to sink their teeth into their courses, meeting like-minded people from different places along the way.
The locals joined the hive of activity on Monday, with the university's annual market day showcasing local services and businesses.
O Week coordinator Matthew Mannes said getting out and about was the key to surviving the first year of uni.
“My advice would be to get in and amongst the activities this week and get involved in the clubs and groups on campus,” Mr Mannes said. “If you have any questions at all, Student Central is your one-stop-shop.”
Rivcoll president Dom Costello said O Week was about getting out of your comfort zone, making new friends and networking.
“We’re putting on some great social events this year,” Mr Costello said.
“My advice to students is to immerse yourself in uni life.”
