Some participants have spent months perfecting their raft and ensuring it will float while others have chanced it and waited until the last minute.
Rafts made of household objects, flotation devices and a whole lot of duct tape will take to the water in the effort to get the coveted title of Gumi World Championship.
There are five races – junior, family, open teams, defence and odds and bods.
Hundreds are expected to attend to participate in the race or enjoy some food and beverages at Cork and Fork afterwards.
