Wagga’s Town and Country Children’s Centre commemorated Sweetheart Day on Wednesday, raising crucial funds to provide support for people affected by congenital or childhood heart disease.
It was a cause close to the centres own heart, with a staff member’s child currently suffering from heart disease.
More than 35 children spent the day wearing red out of the goodness of their hearts, helping to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Licensee Rowena Brown said staff and children wore red and brought a gold coin donation to support the cause, learning all about the focus of the event.
“This could easily affect one of our families so we wan’t to build awareness of what it is and raise money for one of our staff members who knows all too well how valuable the service is,” she said.
The centre ran several red based activities including baking red heart shaped cakes.
“They all loved it and we got a great response, we would definitely consider doing this every year,” Ms Brown said.
