Vehicle set alight on Jack Misson Oval in Ashmont as car fire trend continues | Photo

Another car fire has lit up the Wagga sky overnight, adding to the city’s “shameful” list of car arson.

Firefighters from Turvey Park Fire Station responded to an incident at Jack Misson Oval in Ashmont at 3.20am on Saturday, February 10.

A spokesman from Turvey Park Fire Station said the car was “alight”.

The fire has left scorch marks and melted rubber across the oval.

The blaze is the latest of a series of car fires across Wagga.

Last month, Turvey Park fire commander Jeff Edwards said the region has on average one car fire every three days and blasted the trend as “shameful”

Two weeks ago, another Wagga owner was left with a burnt-out shell for a car after their ute was set alight in the Boat Club car park.
