Police and Fire and Rescue attended the scene around 11.15pm, where the 2012 grey Mazda utility, parked overnight in the upper section of the car park was burning. 

A tree behind the burning ute also caught ablaze, but Turvey Park senior firefighter David Simpson said while the car was lost the fire was contained relatively quickly.

Lake Albert resident Jewel McKibbin heard a massive explosion from her Lake Albert Home around 10.45pm and rushed with her husband to help. 

She said a van was burnt out about a year ago in the same spot. 

“It’s frustrating more than frightening, you know straight away when you hear the noise here we go again some poor person has lost their vehicle- it just keeps happening and it’s not good enough,” she said. 

“There was a tree alight behind the car, there’s no care or consideration. 

“There’s a huge area of bush behind there if that went up it could have been terrible.” 

Wagga Police duty officer Adrian Telfer confirmed the ute was owned by Wagga residents and had been parked at the club overnight and not stolen. There are currently no known offenders.

Police are making inquiries on behalf of the owner. 

”It’s pretty disappointing,” Inspector Telfer said.
