The Hawks have secured midfielder Matt Beasley, defender Jonathan Roche and former Wagga United striker Adam Cesnik.
Roche, 32, has joined the club from Brisbane, having moved to Wagga to begin training as an aircraft technician at the RAAF Base, and said joining Henwood was a no-brainer.
“I put out some feelers and Henwood were the most accommodating and welcoming, so that made my decision pretty easy,” he said.
The hard-nosed defender said he had a good feeling about the upcoming season and couldn’t speak highly enough of his new team.
“There’s a great feeling around the club,” he Roche said.
“The guys are really good here, they always make themselves available and are happy to have a chat.
“The training sessions are very well-structured, the intensity is good and the coaching is good too.”
Beasley, meanwhile, is fresh off playing two seasons of Australian Rules in Sydney.
Before that, he captained Gippsland side Trafalgar Victory.
The Victorian midfielder said the season would be about maintaining the high-standard set by the club prior to his arrival.
“I realise they won last year so it’s obviously been a successful club,” he said.
“Every team wants to keep going strong after winning it the year before and that’s our goal.”
Completing the trio is Cesnik, whose relationship with Henwood coach Ryan McKenzie helped bring him to the Hawks.
The duo played alongside each other at Wagga United last year, and their relationship goes back a long way, with McKenzie engaged to Cesnik’s sister.
“Knowing Ryan was definitely a big part of it,” he said.
“I already had a few mates at the club too.”
Cesnik said it was already shaping up to be a solid lead-up to the season.
“We had an awesome turnout to our first training the other day and you can see that there’s a great club culture here too.”
