Both sides did their best to entertain the 932 fans who braved the heat, but neither was able to amass an imposing total.
The Strikers finished at 5-114, before the Thunder matched that total on their final ball, before ultimately prevailing in a super over.
Sydney required just five runs to win off the final over, but could only manage four as the game went to a tie-breaker.
The Strikers had won the toss and elected to bat.
It followed the Thunder’s defiant day one victory, which saw the women in lime green finish at 4-148, before Adelaide was dismissed for 111 in the 20th over.
