Originally down as first emergency, the Stan Hedlund-trained mare only gained a start on the morning of the race, but didn’t let that stop her from coming out on top.
Sent to the front early by Jordan Seary, Cullens Lady ($29.60) ran her rivals ragged to claim victory in the Junee Supa IGA Pace (2170m).
She defeated Beau Cishlom ($4.20) by 6.2 metres.
Hedlund was thrilled with her efforts, plus the driver from Junee teenager Jordan Seary.
“We were very happy to get in as we were first emergency and Jordan drove an extremely good race,” Hedlund said.
“He got her out, got to the lead and held it.
“The kid is going good, he’s good around the stable and plenty of times he helps me work her.”
Meanwhile there were more Junee trainers successful in the Milbrae Quarries heats.
Bruce Harpley took out the first heat with Rubies For Tash before Matthew Harris won the second with Gold Starzzz.
Cowra trainer Shannon Rye won the third with Kyalla Stuart.
The final is part of the Carnival Of Cups program on Saturday.
