After leading the victory over Cootamundra a fortnight ago, Marc Tucker returns to the captaincy role with Haydn Pascoe set to miss the clash with West Wyalong at Exies Oval on Sunday.
Griffith have made three changes to the team who defeated Young last week.
Dean Bennett returns from junior representative duties while Matt Peruzzi and Jamie Winkler also return after being involved in the association’s first O’Farrell Cup win this year.
After becoming the first team to successfully defend the prestigious, Tucker is looking for a better batting performance.
Griffith managed to defend their total of 100, but the captain has his sights set on batting out the full 55 overs.
“I think everyone was pretty stoked about the win after we batted very poorly,” Tucker said.
“I think we have to concentrate a bit more on the batting this week, control our batting innings and if we can bat out the 55 overs I think can win.”
Tucker thought the team was lazy with the bat and they can’t afford to do that against a West Wyalong outfit looking to reclaim the cup.
After holding the cup over the winter, West Wyalong lost in the first challenge of last season.
Captain Al Edis is looking to make up for some of that disappointment.
“We got beaten by Leeton by about four runs so we were close to holding it in the first game back from the winter,” Edis said.
“It has been a while since have had a chance to challenge for it so we are definitely very keen to see if we can win it back and hold it for a few weeks.”
West Wyalong struggled to get a team together but Edis still believes the side is capable of reclaiming the cup.
“It is always a hard time of year to get our full side but having said that the side we have got has some good all rounders, plenty of bowlers and plenty of batters.”
