Mestrov and his deputy Dayle Brown were in the city on Thursday evening as part of a state wide tour.
Only new to the role, Mestrov was full of praise for Wagga after his short visit.
“I’m really impressed with the club itself,” Mestrov said.
“I meet with the president (Adam Francis) and (racing manager) John Patton and they seem to be really taking the club forward.
“There was a good roll up of trainers, owners and participants and the feedback was really good.”
Wagga is the fifth leg of his tour and race programming and grading were among the common themes brought up again at the meeting.
“It is probably the most prominent thing as we want dogs of the same speed racing against each other,” he said. “We are going to review both our programming and grading.”
Prizemoney and the number of meetings club receive each year was also discussed with Wagga and Temora calling for more dates.
Mestrov was impressed by the interest of expanding the “GAP” program, Greyhounds After Racing, in the region.
“We see it as a crucial part of the organisation moving forward and it was great to see the community see re-homing as a key,” he said.
