A man accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl at Wagga will remain in custody after his bid for bail was rejected.

The 22-year-old man appeared via video link in Albury Local Court for a bail application on Thursday.
The man was charged by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad on Tuesday with committing an act of indecency with a victim under 10 years and two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years.
He was also charged with one count each of aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence and inciting a victim under 10 years to commit an indecent act.
A brief of evidence is expected to be served on the accused’s solicitor by February 22.
The case will return to Wagga Local Court for mention on March 7.
