The 22-year-old man appeared via video link for less than five minutes in Wagga Local Court late on Wednesday afternoon.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad charged him with committing an act of indecency with a victim under 10 years and two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years.
He was also charged with one count each of aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence and inciting a victim under 10 years to commit an indecent act.
Family members of the accused waited in court for several hours while the court awaited receipt of medical information.
Magistrate Erin Kennedy told the man his case would be adjourned for one day to ensure a full bail application could be presented to the court.
“I am in Narrandera tomorrow and don’t have (video) facilities so I will shift it to Albury so you don’t have to wait until Monday,” she said.
“I would ask you to be patient and wait to hear from your lawyer.”
Ms Kennedy said if there were any availability difficulties, the bail application could be heard in Griffith Local Court.
