At around 1pm on January 15, Narrandera Highway Patrol stopped the carrier travelling south on the Newell Highway, Jerilderie.
The truck was carrying 679 lambs and ewes loaded at Griffith Sale Yards and destined for Brooklyn Victoria without a Transported Stock Statement.
The livestock were legally purchased through an agent at the Griffith sheep sales.
The driver was hit with a $440 infringement.
The Transported Stock Statement system was introduced in 1990 partly to assist NSW Police to trace stolen stock.
Drivers must have a statement whenever cattle, sheep, goats and horses are to be transported by a vehicle, whether it be by road, rail, water or air.
Some exceptions are detailed on the NSW Department of Primary Industries’ website.
Statements can be obtained from Local Land Services offices in NSW.
