No CCTV from the area is available to assist police with their inquiries into the package found off Gurwood Street on Tuesday.

Inspector Maggie Deall confirmed on Wednesday police were unsuccessful in obtaining footage of the scene.

The package is still being forensically tested in Wagga.

Handmade devices considered to be suspicious were found in the lane way behind Prime7News on Tuesday morning, prompting the evacuation of more than a dozen businesses and closure of a section of the street between Trail and Fitzmaurice for around five hours.

Two specialist bomb squad officers were flown in from Sydney, declaring the package safe around 1.30pm.
