After going through the Twenty20 matches undefeated and winning the grand final on Sunday night, NSW went down to East Asia Pacific by 58 runs on Tuesday.
East Asia Pacific made 250 and were dismissed with two balls to spare. NSW could only manage 192 in reply.
Wagga City coach Jon Nicoll was promoted up the order and opened, making 23 off 48 balls.
It was NSW’s equal third top score. He also took a catch in the field.
Former St Michaels quick Cameron Suidgeest did not bat or ball in the match.
Tom Engelbrecht, who has family ties to Wagga, also scored 23 and returned 1-44 off 10 overs.
NSW will be out to bounce back against Victoria on Wednesday.
