The fields for the opening night of the Breeders Plate carnival were released on Tuesday with just 12 two-year-olds remaining in the running.
Two six-horse heats will be held.
All but three of the 12 hail from the Riverina. Wagga trainer David Druitt and Young’s Peter Schiller both have two in each.
Leeton trainer Col Thomas drew gate one in the opening heat with Metal Rock, while Druitt drew the pole in the second with Brooklyns Best.
The heats, however, have been shafted to races eight and nine on the 10-race card at 9.33pm and 10.03pm respectively.
The final will be held on January 26.
