It comes after Wagga City Council announced unsafe levels of blue-green algae in Lake Albert on December 18.
The latest sampling results from testing conducted on December 21 again returned a high reading for blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) in parts of Lake Albert.
Event organisers waited until 7.45am on Friday, December 29, to announce that wake-boarding and barefoot skiing components would be cut from the program.
“Due to the presence of blue-green algae, we’ve elected not to proceed with the water-based entertainment this year,” event spokesperson Lisa Cameron said.
Thomas Bros dealer principal director and event sponsor Daniel Martelozzo said on Thursday that facepainting, bands, amusements, rides and fireworks would remain unaffected.
“We’ll probably know more about it tomorrow,” he said.
