The 53-year-old man was travelling toward Barellan when he collided with a number of trees, stopping near the base of the Barellan tennis racquet.
Police believe he was killed upon impact.
The circumstances of the collision are still under investigation, but police suspect fatigue and speed may be contributing factors.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Wayne McLachlan asked people to take extra care on the roads over Christmas.
“In the lead up to Christmas we are urging all motorists to drive to the road conditions and take regular rest breaks,” he said.
The man was the only human occupant in the vehicle, however, he was travelling with two dogs who have since been transported to the pound.
