Go Scotty lines up in the Supermix Concrete Christmas Cup (2165m) at Wagga but needs to overcome a horror draw to take out the $10,000 feature.
Go Scotty will start from gate 11, and Powter believes it is his biggest obstacle after finishing second in his last two starts.
“He’s been going pretty good but I think the draw is the biggest hurdle,” Powter said. “If we can get over it we will be right.
“(But) he’s out of the carpark and back in the bush.”
Powter expects Onthestraitenarrow to be hardest to beat for Leeton trainer Chris Hughes.
He won five straight before a fifth in the Griffith Cup and was third in the Cherry Festival Cup at Young last time out.
“I think I’m in with a pretty good chance but I think the number two (Onthestraitenarrow) will lead and he’s good pretty good form behind him.”
Powter moved to Wagga from Parkes in July believing the region provides more opportunities.
He also expects Mod Conns to be more than competitive after drawing the front following two placings.
Jessica Prior will drive both horses.
