The fire brigade was called to the Bolger Avenue address at 11.57pm to find the house alight.
“We had three appliances from Turvey Park and another from Wagga station, meaning 16 firefighters on the scene,” said firefighter Joel Sims.
“It took us half an hour to contain the fire, another hour to extinguish it, and an hour after that to render the premises safe.”
Forensic police have begun investigating after both the house and the adjoining garage sustained major damage.
“We’d like to remind people to secure their property, even if they’re not there at the time,” Mr Sims said.
Firefighters also attended a grassfire a short distance away in Doyle Avenue at 11.15pm, while a rubbish bin was set alight in Dalman Parkway at 4.30am.
