But never fear, these “convicts” were happy to be behind bars – as it was all to raise awareness of the Wagga Police Citizens Youth Club.
Club manager Blake Dunn said the annual PCYC Time4Kids Lock Up raised both money for the club and awareness of its programs.
The city’s business and sporting communities have again thrown their support behind the event by allowing themselves to be put into makeshift “cells” in the Wagga Marketplace.
Each “convict’ has to raise a minimum amount of money to be released from PCYC custody.
Mr Dunn said the event had been great fun, but had served the much more valuable purpose of reminding Wagga residents of what the PCYC offered.
In particular, PCYC staff wanted Wagga families to be aware of the school holiday programs on offer, which will be starting from Monday with limited spaces available.
