Bensley was injured after his mount Fila Freckle reared and flipped on him as the barriers opened for the Valet Park & Fly Maiden Handicap (1200m).
The Chris Heywood-trained five-year-old was having its fifth start but was first up from a spell.
He is yet to be placed in any of his races.
Bensley was being treated for a left leg injury but initials reports were he has not suffered any fractures.
Meanwhile it was a good day for visitors at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
Seven of the eight races were taken out by trainers from outside the Southern District.
Albury trainer Andrew Dale tasted success with Little Red Devil, while Wodonga horseman Peter Maher won the feature race.
Three of the races went to Canberra trainers while there were too more wins for Victorian visitors.
