Housden won his sprint final at the NSW Elite and Under 19 Track Championships in Sydney on Saturday, successfully defending his title.
The Wagga local beat out fellow New South Welshman Charles Hoffman and the ACT’s Jackson Williams to claim the victory.
Housden said it was a taxing but satisfying win.
“Going three rounds in the finals against him (Hoffman) made it pretty tough,” he said.
“Things started off pretty easy but right towards the end it got super intense.
“But once it was all over it felt pretty good to get up.”
Housden will now turn his attention to the Austral Wheel Race, the country’s oldest race of its kind, which is scheduled for December 16 at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena.
The elie local said the event would play a massive role in determining his Commonwealth Games fate, as he continues to push towards making it to the Gold Coast.
