Colts extended their unbeaten start to the season with a two-wicket victory over South Wagga.

Chasing down South Wagga’s total of 176 in the 39th over, captain Sam Whitfield was relieved to get the win.

“It was very nervous time for the last five or six overs but the boys did really well and got the job done in the end,” Whitfield said.

After losing Chase Macintosh in the third ball of the match, the Blues looked set to put on a mammoth score.

Jeremy Rowe and Brayden Ambler (45) were punishing the Colts attack before a stream of wickets stunted their progress.

Rowe (58) was the first to go shortly after the drinks break.

Keenan Hangian, who finished with four wickets, claimed the breakthrough to end the 91-run partnership and in a blink of an eye the Blues were reeling at 5-135.

Luke Gerhard (31) offered good resistance before him team was bowled out.

In response, Colts were made to work to chase down the total.

Dave Bolton set the tone, scoring a quick fire 20 as former Kooringal bowler Adam Skow leaked 15 off the first over including two no balls.

However two wickets in two balls from Nathan Cooke made things interesting.

He removed Andrew Dutton (50) and Mathew Etchells in consecutive balls to have Colts at 6-137.

Colts then lost two more wickets, including Hanigan for 25,  before an unbeaten 18 from Max Hillier guided them home.
