19-year-old man in police custody following stolen vehicle investigation in Ashmont

A man with three outstanding arrest warrants has been taken into police custody this afternoon following an investigation into ongoing vehicular theft in the Ashmont area.

Police entered a Lae Avenue property earlier this morning and established a perimeter before forensics were called to the scene.

Officers confirmed a 19-year-old man accompanied police to the station and was assisting with further inquiries.

Inspector Peter McLay said the man’s arrest warrants concerned dishonestly obtaining property, damaging property by fire, and taking and driving a conveyance without consent.
