The Christmas event, which normally draws crowds of around 250 people, was called off around 9am on Saturday morning.
Organiser Pat Combs said there was simply too much water on the roads for the event to go ahead.
“We thought it might clear but it got heavier and for safety reasons we had to make the call,” he said.
Despite the cancellation of the run, Mr Combs said a toy auction would still be held before Christmas and no child would go without.
“We have a truckload of donated furniture and plenty of kids toys ready to go,” he said.
“We’ve raised a heap of money so we haven’t missed out, it’s really just the social side of things.”
Mr Combs said the run itself wouldn’t be able to be postponed.
“It is too difficult to get the permissions to reschedule,” he said.
“There are also lots of things on at Christmas time and not too many Saturday’s left.”
An auction date is yet to be set.
