Josie, 12, earned selection at the state championships in Camden recently, when a strong second day of competition saw her rocket in from eighth to finish second at the two-day event.
Only the top four from NSW were eligible for the Games in South Australia.
The Mater Dei primary school student is excited at the prospect of being one of 4000 students from 15 countries competing at the 10th Pacific School Games.
“I’m a bit nervous but it’ll be fun,” Josie said.
She hopes to make the most of it by continuing the improvement in her game, which has seen her initial handicap of 28 last year now down to 15.
“I’ve been really happy with how I’ve been driving and how I’ve been hitting them on the fairway but I needed to improve on my putting and chipping,” she said.
The golfers will have a practice round on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s opening ceremony and then four rounds of competition during the week.
Josie said she and Hugo took up golf after tagging along with their dad when he would visit the driving range ‘for stress relief’.
Both are in the Wagga Country Club’s development squad.
Hugo’s selection in the state under 15 team also saw him meet one of his idols, Jordan Spieth, in Sydney at last week’s nationals.
