Challacombe stepped down as president at the club’s recent annual general meeting after almost a decade of guiding the organisation.
He leaves on a high after the Phantoms secured the 2017 first grade premiership and the women’s seven silverware.
“I just thought it was time to give someone else a go … new faces means fresh ideas,” Challacombe said.
“I’ll still be around though and having a run around in second grade where I can.”
Tim Allen has been elected as the new president of the club.
Allen has plenty of experience in the rugby union circle having referred Southern Inland Rugby Union matches for many years, as well as being an avid Phantoms and Dianas supporter for just as long.
He was looking forward to the challenge. “I’ve certainly got big boots to fill,” Allen said.
“Bart has done fantastic things for this club. I’ve got a good committee behind me and, coming off a successful year, we’ll be hoping to build on that.”
Allen said the club was in the process of finalising its coaching staff across the three grades for next season.
“The three things I want to focus on is obviously finalising the coaching positions, sponsorship and player retention,” he said.
“We know many of our players are returning, so that’s great. I also want to build on the social side of the club.”
