Event organiser and Queanbeyan trainer Joe Cleary was proud to see a capacity crowd turn out for ‘A Day For JK’.
“I personally felt so proud to see our local racing community come out in force and support ‘A Day For JK’,” Cleary said.
“We absolutely nailed it and my little mate got a nice little bone to get him going again.”
Kissick was overwhelmed by the show of support.
“What Joe and Sharlene and everyone else did (on Wednesday) I could never repay,” Kissick said.
“I cannot wait to get back into what I love doing and doing it with such a great bunch of people.”
Nick Olive, Matt Dale, Pat Webster and Wayne Harris were guest speakers at the fundraiser.
Kissick broke his back in a bullriding accident in October last year.
He has been sidelined ever since and barely been able to move.
Kissick is booked in for surgery next month, where he will have a plate and screws removed from his spine.
Pending the all clear, he hopes to begin his comeback to riding early next year.
