“We were a very strong advocated of Hanwood joining because we want the competition to be as strong as possible,” he said.
“I think it’s a regressive move not to take them in and I’ve told Hanwood that.”
Flanagan’s comments come after Hanwood FC junior president Jason Valensisi wondered aloud why FWW had rejected his club.
“We’re not sure if there’s a fear of our clubs being too strong, if it’s because of stuff between the Rhinos and Wanderers, or what’s going on,” Valensisi told The Daily Advertiser on November 16.
The Wanderers did not have a vote when Football Wagga put the matter to its clubs last month.
“It makes sense that we didn’t have a vote, but if we did, we absolutely would have voted ‘yes’,” Flanagan said.
