Famous Wagga bands from as far back as the 1970’s were only too happy to dust off their instruments, raising money for this year’s Country Hope Christmas party.
Mayberry Park, Blue Ridge and Nathan Charlton entertained an audience of 150 people at Wagga’s Commercial Club on Sunday.
Country Hope events organiser Tom Looney said it was lovely to see the support for the cause.
“It’s our own and we look after our own,” Mr Looney said.
“It’s a wonderful donation that helps us cover the costs of the day.”
Mr Looney said the $1500 donation meant Country Hope didn’t have to be concerned about entertainment and catering for the important day which brings a smile to the faces of countless Wagga children.
Wagga Country Music Club secretary Carolyn Shawe said it was a terrific turnout for a local cause which touched the hearts of many residents.
“We’ve had some great feedback and everyone is loving the music, it’s even better than expected,” she said.
The club has now chosen to name Country Hope as its charity of the year, to help support services for Riverina children diagnosed with cancer.
