It follows reports of a fight involving close to 20 other residents, “armed with sticks, bats and bottles”, outside a Davies Place home in Tolland last week.
During the incident, it was reported an 18-year-old Tolland woman was stabbed in the forearm repeatedly with a sharp instrument, which is yet to be identified.
The teen was taken to Wagga Rural Referral Hospital after 8.30pm on November 16, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released the following morning.
Wagga police Inspector Peter McLay said a 19-year-old woman came into the station after 3pm on Saturday to turn herself in.
She was consequently arrested and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Inspector McLay said the young woman was granted conditional bail to appear in court on January 26.
According to Wagga police, the dispute between the two women – both from Tolland – was over a broken relationship.
Wagga’s crime manager Darren Cloake last week said the issue resulted in a physical altercation between the pair and the alleged stabbing of the younger woman.
Detective inspector Cloake said the women were known to each other and the weapon – believed to be small silver knife – was yet to be recovered.
“Whilst the others were there and armed in a threatening manner ... there were only two girls engaged in the fight,” Inspector Cloake said. “It was a targeted attack.”
A crime scene was created, following the brawl on Thursday night and an investigation was launched.
Inspector Cloake last week condemned the incident.
“We won’t stand for this type of behaviour in any way,” Inspector Cloake said. “Through the nature of our inquiries and our investigation I would see that a large amount of people will be facing the courts on this matter.”
