Walker lines up his stable star Our Mach Jack in the Take The Train To The Trots 13th January 2018 3YO Pace (1609m).
A winner two starts back, Our Mach Jack was very unlucky in a Evolution final at Menangle last time out.
After taking a position on the pegs, Walker struggled to find clear running run to finish fifth on Saturday.
However Walker was far from disappointed with the effort.
“I don’t know if he was unlucky last time, I got in behind Bruce (Harpley) and elected to go in there and just didn’t get out,” Walker said.
“I probably should have stayed where I was and run third but the horse went good and that is the main thing.”
Our Mach Jack drops down to an easier grade on his home track and Walker is hoping he can plot a safe passage after drawing to start behind two first starters.
“I think he is going alright but we just have to negoiate the two first starters,” he said.
“It will be the biggest trick.
“No bad luck and he will go alright.”
His win two starts back has made the son of Mach Three ineligible for further Evolution series, with his career earnings now above the $40,000, but Walker has some other nice options in mind for the MIA Breeders Plate winner.
“There is not much on, I’ve had a look but if he is lucky enough to win one of the next couple of starts I’ll give him a bit of a break again and wait for other races to come around later in the season.”
