Forever Newyork ($3.00) settled last but finished powerfully over the top to claim the Tumblong Hills Class Three Showcase Handicap (1180m).
The win backed up a very good first-up second placing and Wagga trainer Gary Colvin will now look to run Forever Newyork in a Highway Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday week.
“We’ll see how he pulls up as to whether we back up or not but there’s a 1500 metre Highway next week that we’ll look at,” Colvin said.
“The way he’s racing it looks like he’s really looking for 14-1500.
“It was a very good run.”
Forever Newyork scored by a half length from Cattledog Cod ($9.50) and Penny Shares ($8.00).
The four-year-old will have one more run before spelling, with the Country Championships in mind.
