The Coolamon equestrienne was set for her biggest challenge yet in the Australian International Three Day Event but couldn’t compete after an injury to her horse Cotton Eye Joe.
The 24-year-old has been left devastated but is resolved to fight on.
“Devastated doesn’t begin to describe it,” Peet said.
“But it has only made me more determined and this isn’t going to keep us down.”
Peet said the trip to Adelaide had been seamless and the pair had worked strongly in the lead up before ‘Joe’ was found to be lame before the dressage event.
X-rays revealed the gelding injured himself in his stable and she is hopeful that two months off will see him fighting fit once again.
“He will be totally fine after some box rest,” Peet said.
“It is a bit of freak accident sort of thing.”
Peet wants to turn her attention to some younger horse while ‘Joe’ recuperates.
