Currently listed with 91 members, the Tarcutta crew has outgrown its old facilities and will take up new digs after council approved the development of a modern fire station.
“The need to find a new site and station was identified a while back, so we’ve got approval and the site is now open for tender,” said Riverina Fire Control Centre operational officer Bradley Stewart.
The new site is set include shower and toilet amenities and facilities for training at brigade level.
“Old fire stations were really just four walls and a door with space for a fire truck,” Mr Stewart said.
“This will be a new modern version with proper amenities.”
It is anticipated the building will take six months to complete.
“We’re always happy to take new people on board and everyone who’s keen to help out will be welcomed with open arms,” Mr Stewart added.
“Volunteers don’t necessarily have to be on end of the hose – we need help all across the board in areas such as engagement, communications and air support.”
