Clocking one of the fastest last halves ever at Griffith, the Amanda Turnbull-trained five-year-old came home in 56.3 seconds to score a dominant victory in Griffith’s feature race.

He stormed away from a brave Badge Of Gameness to win by more than 16 metres.

His breathtaking display was described by veteran caller Allan Wallett as the fastest last 800 metres he had seen in his many decades at the track.

However reinsman Nathan Jack thought the slow first half contributed just as much.

“It was probably the slowest first quarter he’s heard as well so it goes hand in hand,” Jack said.

Fresh from a spell, the win was Heza Bromac’s first since May 2016.

He showed all the promise in the world as a three-year-old before losing his way.

He won five of his first six starts in Australia, but had failed to back that up in two subsequent campaigns.

Heza Bromac was then moved to Jack and Amanda Turnbull’s stable at Shepparton.

Jack said they were unsure if the stable change was wise, but so far things have been paying off.

“We were on a bit of a hiding taking him as he was such a great three-year-old, looked so dominant and Kevvy (Kevin Pizzuto) is such a great trainer,” he said.

“But Danny (Zavitsanos) is such a great owner and I think he’s a quality horse.

“I don’t think he’s best driven like that, I think he’s a better sit and kicker, as he has such high speed, but on a half mile track you aren’t going to give away that advantage that’s for sure.”

Jack expects he’ll be improved for the effort.

It made it back-to-back wins in the feature for Turnbull after Chumlee took out the cup in her first visit to the track last year.

Meanwhile, Coleambally trainer-driver Ellen Bartley had a night out with three winners on the seven-race card.

First she drove Quick Reflection to a victory for David Kennedy.

The 10-year-old made it three in a row after also winning at Griffith on Tuesday night.

Bartley then trained Ollie And Brock to back-to-back wins on the Griffith circuit.

He took out the World Of Tyres Dunlop Superdealer R0 Final (2150m) despite missing the start before Confederate Girl won the last race.

Ollie And Brock was driven to victory by Mark Pitt who also tasted success with Im Not Crazy for John Kefford and Our Dandy for Kim Hillier.

Im Not Crazy won a Menangle Country Series heat with the other taken out by Lets Katchmeifucan.
