Goolagong has been selected in the NSW Under 14 Echidnas team to play at the Australian Indigenous Schoolgirls Netball Championships on the Gold Coast in January.
The Mt Austin High School student was selected after a carnival in Newcastle earlier this year.
Goolagong, 12, said she likes playing in defence but can also play shooter and is excited about the trip to the Gold Coast.
Last weekend she was a member of the Aboriginal Wagga under 12s team which took out the Canberra Koori Netball Tournament.
Goolagong was named most valuable player in the division.
She said Taniesha Allcorn, Indiana Johnson and Kamarnya Berthaly were also strong for the Wagga team.
