With a focus on looking after veterans on a day-to-day basis, the RSL Sub-Branch certainly has its work cut out.
Not only do they provide a place for veterans to come and relax at the clubhouse but they also help them with paperwork, assist them in hard times and organise services for all major ceremonies including Anzac Day, Remembrance Day and local events like the Kapooka Tragedy.
RSL Sub-Branch secretary Ken May said the organisation looks after all servicemen and women regardless of if they had been to war or not.
“That doesn’t matter, we just try to look after them as best we can,” he said.
“Even just coming down for a coffee and a chat can make some of your troubles go away.”

Mr May joined the sub-branch in 2006 and took on the role of secretary in 2014.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to encourage servicemen and women to get involved,” he said.
“Everyone is so passionate about what we do.”
The RSL Sub-Branch is located on 26 Dobbs Street in a house owned by the RSL Club.
Before they were in the house they had a small office inside the club.
“The RSL Club is a massive part of us,” Mr May said.
“They’re really supportive of us, there is never any hesitation in allowing us to do things in the club.
I’d like to extend my thanks and congratulations to the club on making it to 70 years
